2009 January 16: Students! There was an oversight in my NoodleTools presentation regarding citation of Opposing Viewpoints book excerpt. Using MLA Simple, the option for "Book" does not capture the chapter title ("Animal Experimentation Needs Moral Justification"). PLEASE capture that information by copying and pasting the title of the document into the "Annotations" field at the very end, and we will show you how to insert it into your final Works Cited page. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center

See if you can use the menu of controversial topics to drill down to the articles you need. If not, do a keyword search.

        

When you get the results list, use the tabs to sort by resource type.

When you find an artile, use the Print button inside the database to reformat before printing.

Once at the portal, make sure you click on the link for SIRS Researcher:
     
If you can't find your topic in the list, do a keyword search:

        

At results list, use buttons on the bar to isolate resource types (newspapers, graphics, websites).

At article, use Print button inside the database to reformat before printing.

ProQuest Platinum

IMPORTANT: Use the green "My Products" button in menu at right to get in (not the orange "My Products Page" button above it):

        

On the opening screen, put a check in the "Full text documents only" box.

        

Use Boolean operators:   blackwell OR (contractors AND iraq)

View your results list both by "Most recent first" and by "Most relevant first."

Use the Print button inside the database to reformat before printing.

Try limiting your Google search to reputable websites by limiting your search to specific domains. In front of your search terms, add the following text:

site:edu   site:gov   site:org
